And yes, the main bad guy sucks, I felt the urge to skip the opening every time because of his stupid face. Somehow, matches between rival teams felt way more emotional and exciting than Inakuni matches, which is sad really. Unfortunately the main team is very bland. Haizaki, Nosaka, Nishikage, Kira Hiroto, most of the OGs and others are fantastic. I know it’s all because of very limited time and budget, but eh.Īres comes pretty close, but its characters carry the season. And what even were the final episodes, my brain couldn’t process anything. Going from one match to another in like half an episode feels too hectic.
Everyone else felt off, kind of like empty shells of themselves, and I find it difficult to explain to be honest. There are some new characters I liked, like Froy or Ichihoshi (although he deserved a better development in my opinion), and some old ones are pretty cool (Mizukamiya Kozoumaru actually doing something Asuto because they remembered that he is in a fact the main character), but it wasn’t enough for me.
Even though its plot was not all over the place, I couldn’t help but feel like most characters weren’t acting like themselves and was a downgrade compared to their previous versions. After I finished it, I felt kind of empty inside.
